چکیده

This paper addresses the problem of performance assessment for MIMO PID controllers. An efficient comparative analysis is established using two Iterative Linear Matrix Inequality (ILMI) approaches. To evaluate the robustness and the performances of each ILMI approach, four tests are carried out on the closed-loop system including White Gaussian noise, set point changes, parametric perturbation, and multiple time-delays influence. Different performance criterion such as IAE, ISE, ITAE and ITSE are also presented to evaluate the closed-loop system performances. The quadruple-tank process as a benchmark of minimum/non-minimum phase systems is applied to show the effectiveness and utility of the proposed analysis. The comparative analysis between the two PID controllers leads to nearly similar performance results in parametric perturbation and noise attenuation but different results in terms of set point changes, multiple time-delays influence and performance indices.

Decentralized Fuzzy-PID Based Control Model for a Multivariable Liquid Level System

Multivariable liquid level control is essential in process industries to ensure quality of the product and safety of the equipment. However, the significant problems of the control system include excessive time consumption and percentage overshoot, which result from ineffective performance of the tuning methods of the PID controllers used for the system. In this paper, fuzzy logic was used to t...

Analytical Design of IMC-PID Controller for Ideal Decoupling Embedded in Multivariable Smith Predictor Control System

Abstract—In this paper, the analytical tuning rules of IMC-PID controller are presented for the multivariable Smith predictor that involved the ideal decoupling. Accordingly, the decoupler is first introduced into the multivariable Smith predictor control system by a well-known approach of ideal decoupling, which is compactly extended for general nxn multivariable processes and the multivariabl...

New static output feedback stabilization and multivariable PID-controller design methods for unstable linear systems via an ILMI optimization approach

The design problem of a static output feedback controller and multivariable proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is investigated for linear time-invariant systems (LTI). First, the static output feedback stabilization problem is taken into consideration and then an iterative linear matrix inequality (ILMI) algorithm is developed for the synthesis of the controller. Second, choosing...

Design and experimental evaluation of a multivariable self-tuning PID controller - Control Theory and Applications, IEE Proceedings-

In the paper, a new multivariable self-tuning PID controller design scheme is proposed which has a static matrix precompensator to reduce the interaction terms of the process transfer function matrix adjusted by an online estimator. The p £ p precompensated multivariate system is then controlled via ‘p’ univariate self-tuning PID controllers whose parameters are adjusted by a second identifier ...

Decoupled Temperature Control System Based on PID Neural Network

In this paper, the author analyzes the characteristics of the temperature control systems in industry, which have long delay time, large time constants and strong couple affects. The author then introduces a Proportional, Integral and Derivative neural networks (PIDNN) and lets PIDNN be a multivariable controller. The simulation results for a three-stage heater in a plastic injection machine ar...
